May 13, Monday of the Seventh Week of Easter
Memorial of Our Lady of Fatima
Daily Readings: Acts 19:1-8; John 16:29-33

Today we celebrate Our Lady of Fatima's Feast. We honor Our Lady of Fatima, who served as a beloved Marian devotion to protection and hope for those suffering, offering comfort in times of uncertainty.

In the first reading, Paul continues to be the inspiration for converting the people to believe in Jesus. After receiving the baptism in Jesus' name, the believers received the Holy Ghost, and they were able to speak with tongues and make prophecies.

The gift of speaking in tongues refers to the Apostles' ability to communicate in different languages, which the listeners perceived as "telling in our tongues the mighty works of God."

According to the Gospel today, the disciples acknowledge that Jesus came from the Father. Jesus informed them that although everyone would disperse, he would not face isolation as the Father remained by his side. Jesus then warned them to be courageous in facing the world because there would be hardship, but he reminded them that he had conquered it.

He is telling them all of this so that they can find peace. People usually find peace in their hearts when they know someone is with them on whom they can rely.

Call to Action for Catholic Living:  Our readings show God is always with his beloved people. The gift of speaking in tongues in different languages demonstrates that God took over their work so that people would listen and understand whatever the apostles preached.

As we observe the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, may we find peace in asking for the guidance of the Blessed Mother.  Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us, Amen.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
