April 20, Saturday of the Third Week of Easter
Daily Readings: Acts 9:31-42; John 6:60-69

The first reading shows that Peter continues Jesus' mission, particularly in the healing ministry. In Jesus' name, he cured a certain man named Aeneas, who had been suffering from palsy for eight years. He also revived a deceased individual, a disciple named Tabitha, who we interpret as Dorcas. This woman, full of good works and almsdeeds, became sick and died, but Peter, using the name of Jesus, brought her back to life.

These miracles of testimony led many to convert and believe in Jesus as the Son of God.

The Gospel today shows that though many people followed Jesus, not all were believers in what he was preaching.  Jesus emphasized that it is the Spirit that gives life, while the flesh profits nothing.  Jesus knew that some of his followers, who had not believed him since the beginning, would betray him.

In our lives, we often experience that no matter how good your intentions are toward a certain person or a certain community, sometimes there are antagonists who are against you and even betray you. We could not comprehend the reason for their action but there are always negative forces behind it.

Just like in the Gospel today, people witnessed the ministry of Jesus, in which He cured many diseases and did some miracles but still, they were not convinced; instead, they even betrayed him.

On the other hand,  some people are truthful, loyal, and believers in what you are doing. They always show support, either by encouraging words or action. Like the loyalty of the twelve chosen disciples, especially Simon Peter, who boldly declared that they truly believed that Jesus was the Son of God.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
